I moved to Arizona in 2011 with the intent of continuing a career in electronics manufacturing. However employers were hiring from outside the U.S. at 1/3 of the pay that engineers I managed made 20 years prior. In addition, electronics manufacturing in the U.S. had been decimated by globalization, so there were too many highly experienced professionals competing for a very small amount of jobs locally at lower wages.
My career in electronics manufacturing spanned several companies and decades serving as machine operator, programmer, engineer, automation specialist, process engineer, and manager. My training came from 2 universities (with a Bachelor Degree in Science and Graduate Engineering research and training), 2 colleges, several training centers, and self training.
Soon after moving to Arizona, it was clear that manufacturing was not going to come back. My parents lived in Surprise for many years before I moved here and they used a local IT guy. He told me that there was more than enough business if I wanted to start doing IT here. So that's what I did - I used the talents God gave me to help others. Surprise Computer LLC was born out of the idea just to help people with their computer related problems. I did not buy this company from anyone. I started by printing business cards, flyers, and post cards and putting them on doors and talking to who ever would listen.
I filed my intentions with the Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, and on June 9th, 2011, they issued me an Employer Identification Number, 45-2495769. I started Surprise Computer LLC shortly thereafter, and on July 1, 2011 was issued a license to do business in the State of Arizona. Additionally, I was issued a business license for the City of Surprise, Arizona.
One of the reasons I started this company was because I had amassed a lot of experience with computers, related devices, and software, and discovered that i was good at working with computers. Another reason is that I can teach and enjoy doing it. Finally, I felt comfortable starting this company in Surprise, Arizona with the intent of helping people in their home with their electronic stuff. My grandparents lived in Sun City and I used to hear stories from my grandma about how service companies ripped off seniors. I knew that all I had to do was do a good job and be honest and I would stand out. I was right.
Since our inception, we have had several people helping us as Independent Contractors, but we have had no partners or employees. Some of my grandchildren have come to visit with me and they are very technologically savvy so they have helped me from time to time.
We have been established in the state of Arizona since 2011, and are certified by the Office of the Corporation Commission to be in Good Standing. How many other people trying to do IT can make this claim?
Though we were doing IT work long before, we were legally established as of July 1st, 2011. Many people trying to do IT work do not bother to be licensed to do business in the State of Arizona.
We have been legally operating locally out of the City of Surprise since 2011. Many people trying to do IT work are not licensed to do business in the City of Surprise.
